Gulf Aid Acadiana was founded by three friends with the help and support of many other friends.

Singer-songwriter Zachary Richard is recognized for his committment to environmental and cultural causes. Author of 18 albums in both French and English, as well as several collections of poetry, he is best known for his efforts to promote the French language and Cajun culture of Louisiana. 

Avid and accomplished kayak fisherman Valerie Billeaud Gonsoulin has been at the forefront of the community response to the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling catastrophe. She obtained HAZMAT certification in Venice, Louisiana in the days following the disaster, and shares her co-founders’ deep concern for the health of the communities, economies and ecosystems of the Gulf Coast.

Community organizer and producer Todd Mouton directs Louisiana Crossroads and Louisiana Folk Roots, and is a member of the Campaign Committee for the Dr. Tommy Comeaux Memorial Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Traditional Music at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Gulf Aid Acadiana fut fondé par trois amis, résidents de l’Acadiana.

Auteur-compositeur, Zachary Richard est reconnu pour son engagement écologique et culturel. Il a enregistré 18 albums en français et anglais et a écrit plusieurs recueils de poésie. Il est un ardent défenseur de la langue française et de la culture cadienne de Louisiane.

Pêcheur en kayak accompli, Valerie Billeaud-Gonsoulin est le coeur battant de Gulf Aid Acadiana. Une des rares volontaires à obtenir un certificat HAZMAT à Venice en Louisiane (manipulation de matières toxiques) dans les premiers jours de la catastrophe, elle a une connaissance hors pair des communautés du littoral. Elle est particulièrement bien qualifiée pour identifier les besoins des gens que nous espérons aider.

Activiste et producteur, Todd Mouton est un pilier de la scène culturelle du sud de la Louisiane. Directeur de  Louisiana Folk Roots et la série Louisiana Crossroads, son travail aide à promouvoir la culture louisianaise à travers la région et le monde.
